New Libraries Joining NC Cardinal Next Year
NC Cardinal is growing! Over the course of the next year we will be welcoming several new library systems to the Nest!
High Point Public Library - High Point Public Library will be joining NC Cardinal in September, 2025.
Pender County Library - Pender County Library, of Burgaw, NC, will be joining NC Cardinal in March, 2026.
East Albemarle Regional Library (EARL) - The East Albemarle Regional Library will be joining NC Cardinal in June 2026. They will be joining the consortium and dissolving their regional system simultaneously, resulting in 4 separate new systems joining Cardinal: Camden, Currituck, Dare, and Pasquotank.
De-Duplication of Videos
Catalogers from around the consortium worked with the NC Cardinal team and Mobius on our annual record de-duplication project. This year the focus was on records for DVDs and Blu-Rays. Working together, we were able to merge 10,776 duplicate records!
User Testing the Knowledge Books
You asked about clearer, easier to find documentation, and we listened! This spring the NC Cardinal team has begun the process of testing the usability and navigation of our Evergreen documentation in the Knowledge Books. With the help of library staff from all around the consortium, we have been exploring the good, the bad, and the confusing in our Knowledge Books. This process will continue through the end of this fiscal year. Starting in July 2025, we will start take what we’ve learned from these tests and develop improvements to our documentation.
Keep an eye out on Basecamp for opportunities to help, or email Samantha to volunteer!
Evergreen Conference
This year’s annual Evergreen International Conference is being held virtually on May 12-15th. This conference is a great opportunity to learn more about the state of the software, plans for upcoming upgrades, and features and functions that you can implement in your libraries. It’s also a great introduction to the wider Evergreen community.
This year, NC Cardinal has awarded 45 scholarships to staff from NCCCE and 50 to staff from NC Cardinal.
Even if you weren’t one of our scholarship recipients, you can still attend! Registration is still open, and you can sign up here.
