Cardinal Training Specialist
Areas of expertise
As the NC Cardinal Training Specialist, I provide support, training resources, and live instruction to staff in both migrating and established libraries within the NC Cardinal Consortium. The majority of training I provide focuses on the use of the Evergreen software. I work with the UX committee to test and hone NC Cardinal policies, updates to the software, and outreach efforts. I also work with the Cardinal team to guide libraries through migration, develop documentation, and provide first level software support.

More about Samantha
I grew up in West Lafayette, IN. I received my BA from Purdue University, and my MLIS from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. I began my career in libraries working at my local public library in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Since then, I have worked in public libraries in both youth and adult services, and special libraries as a cataloger and an economics librarian. Prior to joining the State Library, I worked at Central Carolina Community College for almost 8 years, starting as the Public Services Librarian and eventually serving as Library Director. I have an 11-year-old daughter and a boxer-mix dog. They are in constant competition to see which one is the wildest. I enjoy baking, traveling, and playing board games.
Fun Facts
I love to bake. I especially enjoy finding very old recipes or traditional dishes from other countries and trying to re-create them as authentically as possible.
My favorite TV show is Murder She Wrote.
I was born in Ithaca, NY and grew up in Indiana. I have also lived in Baton Rouge, LA, Charleston, SC, Chicago, and Western Massachusetts. As a teenager I lived in Toulouse France for a summer, and in college I studied abroad in Florence, Italy.
