We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Learning Labs— a planned series of on-demand toolkits designed to spark meaningful group discussions around key training topics. Inspired by libraries seeking more engaging alternatives to traditional professional development presentations, Learning Labs offer a fresh approach for events like staff days or planning sessions.
Each Learning Lab will be built around a core resource, such as a webinar or article. The process for using them with staff is simple and the Lab includes everything you need.
Learning Lab Steps:
participants watch the webinar independently,
fill out a learning journal,
and then come together for a guided group discussion using the included Facilitation Guide.
Learning Lab Resources:
Printable Learning Journal: Distribute to participants before they watch the webinar.
Discussion Facilitation Guide: includes lesson plan for how to facilitate the discussion*
Taking Stock Reflection Cards
Table Talk Questions: Print double-sided to use as flashcards.

* Not ready to do a large group discussion? The Facilitation Guide offers ideas for incorporating bite-sized learning resources into emails, newsletters, or team meetings, making it easy to implement group discussions on a smaller scale.
The components of each Learning Lab promote professional development and also gather valuable feedback on how the library can improve services, spaces, culture, and more through discussion and activities.

We aim to make Learning Labs a flexible, easy-to-use resource that encourages thoughtful conversations rather than passive learning, and we'd love to hear your feedback if you utilize the Learning Lab resources. Contact Lauren Clossey to learn more or provide feedback.
